Noida metro and industrial corridor issues resolved

To fast-track developmental projects, officials of the Greater Noida authority and the Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor development corporation (DMICDC) held a meeting in Greater Noida on Thursday evening and resolved all issues coming in the way of the Noida Metro and other infrastructure and industrial projects.

These issues are related to availability of land and shifting of the existing utility services that are to be set up in the under-construction industrial areas.

“The Central government’s eastern freight corridor and western freight corridor, Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the 30-km Noida-Greater Noida Metro link, among other projects, are being developed in the Greater Noida region. In the meeting, we discussed and resolved all issues to fast-track all projects,” said Deepak Agarwal, chief executive officer (CEO), Greater Noida authority.

In the meeting, officials also discussed the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor (DMIC), consisting of large industrial townships, which is being developed along a 1,483-km rail route from Greater Noida’s Maicha area to Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

The Greater Noida authority is also developing a township as part of the DMIC at an estimated cost of `426 crore. Mumbai-based developer Shapoorji Pallonji was awarded the project on January 9, 2016 and began work on it on March 11. It has been directed to complete it within two years.

“The idea behind such meetings is to resolve all issues well in advance so that the progress of these projects does not suffer. We have also discussed how the Noida-Greater Noida Metro link will benefit industrial projects coming up along the route,” said Agarwal.
